Iris Damper (Diaphragm Airflow Regulator)

Product Description

The Iris Damper (IRIS) is a device for precise and smooth airflow regulation in round ventilation ducts. Its unique design features an iris diaphragm consisting of multiple blades (similar to a camera aperture). Regulation is achieved by uniformly narrowing the opening diameter towards the center.

This operating principle allows for laminar airflow (eliminating turbulence), minimizes noise levels, and ensures high accuracy in airflow measurement.

Key Features

  • Precise Regulation: The lever mechanism smoothly changes the position of the diaphragm blades, allowing for very precise adjustment of the cross-section for system balancing.
  • Measurement Function: The casing is equipped with two test points for connecting a differential manometer. This allows measuring pressure drop and accurately determining the current airflow rate using the chart.
  • Low Noise: Thanks to flow centering and the absence of sharp edges in the stream, the iris damper operates significantly quieter than standard butterfly dampers.
  • Easy Cleaning: The damper can be opened fully (100%), providing free access for duct cleaning without dismantling the device.
  • Airtight Connection: The spigots are equipped with EPDM rubber gaskets, ensuring a tight connection with ducts (Airtightness Class C).

Material and Characteristics:

  • Material: Galvanized steel.
  • Construction: Casing with spigots, adjustment scale, measurement test points.
  • Application: Supply and exhaust systems.

Application and Installation Tips

  • Installation: The damper has a "male" nipple design and is inserted inside round ducts. It can be installed in any spatial orientation.
  • Measurement Accuracy: To ensure adjustment accuracy, minimum straight duct distances before and after the damper must be observed (to avoid turbulence before the diaphragm).
  • Balancing: There is a scale on the casing indicating the opening position. Using a differential manometer, the required airflow can be quickly set.
