Exterior Metal Abutment Flashing (Counter Flashing)

The exterior abutment flashing (counter flashing) is a critical roofing accessory designed to seal the joints between the roof covering and protruding vertical structures (walls, chimneys, firewalls). This profile modification is developed to ensure maximum waterproofing of the assembly by embedding the upper part of the flashing directly into the wall structure.

The product reliably covers the structural gap, preventing rainwater and meltwater from seeping into the under-roof space. In addition to its waterproofing function, the flashing serves an aesthetic purpose, forming a neat and straight joint line.

Design Features:

• Reglet Installation (Flange A): The top horizontal bend is designed to be inserted into a pre-cut groove (reglet/chase) in the wall and subsequently sealed. This completely eliminates capillary water ingress behind the flashing down the facade.
• Vertical Protective Apron (Flange B): Reliably protects the lower part of the wall or chimney from splashing and snow accumulation. The height of the flange is calculated individually based on the climate zone and roof pitch.
• Roof Flange (Flange C): The lower part of the flashing rests on the roof covering, directing the water flow onto the slope. The bending angle between flanges B and C is adapted to the actual roof pitch on the site.
• Safe Edge: The edge of the sloped flange is equipped with a standard 10 mm hem. This provides the flashing with the necessary rigidity and protects the decorative roof coating from scratches during thermal expansion.
• Material Variety: Manufactured from galvanized steel, stainless steel, and polymer-coated steel (Polyester, PURal, PVC) to perfectly match the color of the roof.
