| Metal jacketing pipe insulation
Metal Jacketing: Purpose and Key Role
Metal jacketing (also known as a protective cover or metal cladding) is an outer finishing layer installed over the thermal insulation layer of chimneys, ductwork, and industrial equipment. Its main purpose is to protect the base insulation material (mineral wool, PUR, rubber) from environmental degradation and mechanical damage.
A properly selected and installed protective cover is a critical component that ensures the long-term performance of the entire insulation system.
Key functions of the protective cover:
- Mechanical Strength: Protects insulation from impacts, vibration, deformation, and vandalism.
- Climatic Resistance: An absolute barrier against atmospheric precipitation (rain, snow), moisture, and solar UV radiation.
- Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) Prevention: Minimizes the risk of CUI by preventing moisture from penetrating to the pipe surface.
- Efficiency Guarantee: Maintains the geometric integrity and thickness of the insulation, which directly guarantees the design thermal performance.
- Aesthetics and Safety: Gives engineering systems a neat, finished appearance and protects personnel from contact with hot/cold surfaces.
Types of Jacketing Materials
The primary material for protective covers is galvanized steel (ZN) grade DX51+Z275 (0.5 - 1.0 mm thick), which provides an optimal balance of price and durability for most standard applications.
By special order, we also manufacture jacketing from other materials:
- Aluminum Alloys (Al): Lightweight and corrosion-resistant (alloys 1050, 3003). Ideal for outdoor applications. The surface can be smooth or embossed (Stucco).
- Stainless Steel (AISI): For aggressive environments, chemical and food industries. We use alloys AISI 430, AISI 304, and the chemically-resistant AISI 316.
- Coated Steel (PE, PUR, PURMAT): Galvanized steel with a durable polymer coating. Allows matching the jacketing to facade or corporate colors. A selection is available from the color catalog.
Nomenclature: Main Assortment
We produce a full range of fittings (fabricated items) to precisely match the contours of any pipeline. All elements feature necessary reinforcement ribs, locking seams, and longitudinal/end laps to ensure a sealed and strong construction.
| Product Type |
