Material Types and Color Palettes
Choosing the right material and color is key to the durability and aesthetics of your project. SIA Akvilon offers a wide range of sheet metals, from economical basic solutions to premium coatings, as well as a full palette of colors according to RAL and RR standards.
Here we detail the properties of the main materials we use for producing roofing elements, gutters, parapets, flashings, and other custom sheet metal products.
Overview of Materials for Sheet Metal Work
All coatings are divided into classes based on their chemical composition, thickness, and durability.
Smooth Sheet: Galvanized (ZN) and Polyester (PE)
These are the two most popular solutions for most construction tasks. Galvanized Steel (ZN) is an economical base material (service life up to 25 years), protected by a zinc layer (Z275 class). PE (Polyester) Coated Steel is galvanized steel with a standard glossy coating based on polyester paint (25 µm), which creates a "double barrier" (PE + ZN) and has good UV resistance. Service life: 50+ years. Learn more about Smooth Sheet (Galvanized and PE).
Premium Class: High-Tech Coatings
For projects with the highest requirements for durability and aesthetics, we offer premium coatings from leading European manufacturers.
- Granite Ultramat (35 µm): A coating from ArcelorMittal. It has a structural matte ("grained") surface with a thickness of 35 µm. It features enhanced scratch resistance, high resistance to corrosion (RC4) and UV radiation (RUV4), as well as exceptional flexibility at low temperatures (down to -15°C).
- Pural (PU): A premium coating from SSAB. Based on polyurethane, it is significantly thicker (50 µm) and more durable than polyester, with high mechanical resistance.
Stainless Steel (AISI 304 / 316L)
Material for aggressive environments and tasks requiring high hygiene standards. Grade AISI 304 ("food-grade") is ideal for kitchens and chimneys. Grade AISI 316L (acid-resistant) is indispensable for swimming pools and coastal areas. Learn more about stainless steel sheets.
Aluminum
The material of choice for lightweight structures. It is 3 times lighter than steel and does not rust, as it instantly forms a protective oxide film in the air. Ideal for facade cassettes and complex bent parts. Learn more about aluminum sheets.
Copper (Cu)
Considered an "eternal" material. Copper does not rust; over time, it develops a noble green patina—a natural protective layer that completely stops corrosion. Used in elite construction and restoration. Service life: over 100 years.
Black Metal (Mild Steel)
Standard sheet steel without a protective coating. Used for structures that will be operated indoors in dry conditions or will undergo subsequent processing and painting.
Color Palettes (RAL and RR)
We offer products in the two main color standards used in construction. The RAL standard is the classic German palette, and RR (Ruukki) is a popular Scandinavian palette.

Our Stock Colors (RAL / RR)
These are the most popular colors we keep in stock for PE (Polyester) coated steel.
