Ancillary Components for Heat Recovery Systems

Functional Groups of Components
All components in this section are grouped by their primary function.
Components for System Airtightness (Class D)
Achieving the highest airtightness class, D, is a mandatory condition for an energy-efficient system. Air leaks lead to colossal heat loss and force the fan to consume 25-45% more energy. The following are used to create airtight connections:
    - EPDM Gaskets: Installed at the connection points of flexible ducts with plenum boxes and manifolds, ensuring a tight and durable fit.

    - Aluminum Tapes: Reinforced and smooth tapes are used for additional sealing of joints, vapor barriers, and protection of insulation materials. They possess high strength and heat resistance.

    - Connectors, End Caps, and Covers: Couplings for connecting ducts (e.g., for GM and OC systems), end caps for unused manifold spigots, and covers ensure the integrity and airtightness of the entire network.

Elements for Balancing and Regulation
A balanced system is one where the supply air volume equals the extract air volume, and each room receives the exact amount of air specified by the design. This requires:
    - Regulating Dampers: Typically installed in plenum boxes, they allow for precise adjustment of the resistance in each branch of the system, thereby regulating the volume of airflow. This is a critical element for commissioning and proper ventilation performance.

Filters for Air Quality (IAQ)
The purity of the supplied air is one of the main goals of ventilation. In addition to the main filters in the heat recovery unit, supplementary filtration stages are used:
    - Cone Filters: Installed in the plenum box at the inlet to the diffuser, they serve as an additional barrier for dust that may have settled in the ducts during installation. They are easy to replace and maintain.

Mounting and Fastening Materials
Secure fastening of all system elements prevents vibrations, duct sagging, and loss of connection airtightness.
    - Pipe Holders: Special clips for quick and reliable fastening of flexible ducts to the floor, wall, or ceiling.

    - Perforated Strap: A universal fastening element for suspending rigid ducts, manifolds, and other equipment.

    - Tools: Specialized blades for clean and fast cutting of flexible ducts.
