Plastic TPK Components: Collectors and Plenum Boxes
General Description of the TPK System
The TPK system is a comprehensive solution for radial heat recovery ventilation systems, where all distribution components (collectors and plenum boxes) are made entirely of high-quality plastic (polypropylene). This technology provides exceptional lightness, hygiene, and ease of installation thanks to its push-fit connection system.
This modern solution is ideal for projects where acoustic comfort and air quality are a priority. For applications requiring the strength of a metal body, consider our hybrid PK series or the classic metal series OC and GM.
Advantages of an All-Plastic System
The TPK system addresses the key challenges of modern construction, ensuring comfort, health, and energy efficiency.
- Superior Hygiene and Air Quality (IAQ): The components are made from "pure" polypropylene (PP) without harmful additives. The smooth inner surface with antibacterial and antistatic properties prevents dust accumulation and microbial growth, and the absence of glue and sealants during installation guarantees no emission of volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Acoustic Comfort: The radial layout inherently eliminates crosstalk noise between rooms. Additionally, the aerodynamically optimized design of TPK collectors allows for low air velocity (up to 2 m/s), and many models have integrated sound-absorbing elements, making the system virtually silent.
- Energy Efficiency (Class D): Despite the simplicity of push-fit connections, the system is certified (e.g., by TÜV SÜD) for the highest airtightness class, D. This ensures minimal air loss and low fan energy consumption (SFP).
- Simplicity and Speed of Installation: The light weight of the plastic components and the "one-click" connection system significantly simplify and speed up installation compared to metal or hybrid alternatives.
TPK System Components
TPK Collectors (Distribution Boxes)
The central hub of the system that distributes air to the branches. They are characterized by a compact, flat design for space-saving. Modular versions are available for 6, 8, 12, 16, or more outlets, and the unique design allows for the installation of flow dampers directly on the outlet spigots for preliminary system balancing.
TPK Plenum Boxes (Diffuser Connection Boxes)
The final element of the system, installed in the ceiling or wall. It is made of the same hygienic plastic and provides a smooth transition from the flexible duct to the diffuser, stabilizing the flow and further reducing noise.
A Critical Aspect: Fire Safety
When using any plastic components in construction, it is essential to strictly adhere to fire safety regulations. Plastic itself (PP/PE) is combustible and degrades at high temperatures.
Therefore, when plastic ducts or TPK components pass through fire-rated walls and floors, building codes require the mandatory installation of certified fire collars (sleeves). These devices expand in the heat and seal the penetration, preventing the spread of fire and smoke. When designing a TPK system, the cost and installation of these mandatory protective elements must be factored in beforehand.
