Roofing Accessories (also known as trims or flashings) — are essential sheet metal components critical for ensuring water tightness, durability, and aesthetic completion of the entire roofing system. While often overlooked, they perform the most vital protective functions.
The main task of these elements is to protect the most vulnerable areas of the roof: joints, abutments (to walls or chimneys), ridges, and edges. Without them, moisture, snow, and debris will inevitably enter the space beneath the roof, leading to damage to the insulation and premature decay of the structural components.
Correctly selected and installed roofing accessories:
Ensure the roof is 100% watertight and protected from leaks.
Protect the under-roof space from wind-driven rain and snow.
Provide proper ventilation and condensate drainage.
Give the roof a finished, professional, and aesthetic appearance.
Significantly extend the service life of the entire roof structure.
Main Groups of Roofing Accessories
All roofing elements can be divided into three key functional groups within the "roofing pie" system:
Waterproofing and Sealing Elements
This is the most critical group, designed to prevent moisture ingress. It includes all types of flashings produced by sheet metal bending. These are: ridge caps (protecting the top joint of the roof slopes), valleys (channeling water at internal corners), abutment flashings (sealing joints with walls and chimneys), eaves flashings (drip edges), and verge (gable) flashings.
Safety and Maintenance Elements
These ensure the safety of people and property, and provide safe access to the roof for repairs and cleaning. This group includes: snow guards (preventing the uncontrolled avalanche of snow), roof ladders, walkways, and railings.
Ventilation and Penetration Elements
These ensure proper air circulation and a watertight passage through the roof. This category includes roof hatches (for roof access), chimney flashings (providing a fire-safe penetration), and chimney cowls (caps or deflectors).
Materials and Production (Sheet Metal Bending)
The durability of roofing accessories depends directly on two factors: the quality of the raw material and the precision of the geometry. We produce elements from a wide range of metals to ensure maximum effectiveness and compatibility with your roof.
Material
Key Features
Recommended Thickness
Galvanized Steel (ZN)
A basic, economical option. Provides good corrosion protection.
0.45 mm - 1.5 mm
Polymer-Coated Steel (PE, Pural, PVC)
The optimal solution. The polymer layer provides color (per RAL) and excellent protection against UV radiation and corrosion.
0.48 mm - 0.7 mm
Aluminum
Lightweight, malleable, and completely rust-proof. Ideal for coastal regions with high humidity.
1.0 mm - 1.5 mm
Copper
A premium material with a "perpetual" service life. Develops a noble patina over time.
0.6 mm - 0.8 mm
Stainless Steel (AISI 304, 316, 430)
Maximum strength and corrosion resistance. For aggressive environments and special industrial tasks.
0.5 mm - 1.0 mm
It is critically important to maintain material compatibility. All roofing accessories should be made of the same material (or a compatible one) as the main metal roofing and the rainwater system. Failure to follow this principle (e.g., installing copper flashings on a galvanized roof) will lead to galvanic corrosion and rapid metal degradation.
Key Technical Requirements
For roofing accessories to perform their function for decades, they must meet strict technical requirements based on European construction standards (CPR 305/2021).
Characteristic
Why is it important?
Akvilon's Solution
Metal Thickness
The element must not deform under snow load or wind pressure. The industry standard for roofing accessories (flashings) is no less than 0.48 mm.
We use only certified metal with a thickness that strictly meets the standard and the task (from 0.45 mm to 1.5 mm).
Bending Precision
Any deviation in geometry (angles, flange sizes) compromises the watertightness of the joint. This leads to leaks that are difficult to detect.
Our fleet of high-precision bending machines and 20+ years of skilled craftsmanship guarantee a perfect geometric match to your sketches.
Reliability of Safety Systems
The failure of a snow guard poses a direct threat to human life and property. The system must withstand the calculated snow load (according to EN 1991-1-3).
We offer only proven snow guard systems whose fasteners are designed for the snow loads specific to the climatic zone of Latvia.
Our Production: From Standard to Complex Orders
Standard Solutions: We maintain a stock of standard elements (ridge caps, drip edges, verges) for the most popular types of roofing materials.
Custom Production: Akvilon's main advantage is our in-house production and fabrication of any non-standard accessories based on your sketches, drawings, or dimensions. We produce: parapets, window sills, chimney caps, firewalls, (including sills with embossed side "ears"), metal facade cassettes, complex abutment flashings, valleys at any angle, chimney penetrations, and much more.
Our Production Advantages:
In-house equipment fleet: High-precision CNC bending machines (max. bending length 3150 mm), hydraulic presses (handling thickness up to 3.0 mm), guillotines, a welding shop, and plasma cutting.
Materials in stock: We always have galvanized steel, stainless steel (AISI 304, 430, 316), aluminum, copper, and polymer-coated (PE) steel in primary colors.
Short lead times: Standard production time is 1-3 business days. Express orders starting from 2 hours are available.
Complex solutions: Thanks to our welding and plasma cutting capabilities, we manufacture complex welded structures, not just bent profiles.
Flexible terms: We offer product delivery and special partner pricing for construction companies and regular clients, including post-payment terms.
Painting: If you need a custom color not available in the factory palette, we offer a powder coating service in any shade from the RAL catalog.
EU Compliance and Certification
Our products comply with the strict requirements of the European Union, including the Construction Products Regulation (CPR). Elements that affect safety, such as snow guards and roof ladders, have mandatory CE-marking and a Declaration of Performance (DoP).
