Rain Cap
Product Description
The Rain Cap (also known as a chimney cowl or umbrella cap) is the final component installed on the top of an insulated chimney. Its main purpose is to protect the flue channel from the ingress of atmospheric precipitation (rain, snow), as well as from leaves, twigs, and birds. The cap is installed directly onto a cone terminal, forming a single unit with it to complete the chimney structure.
Key Features
- Effective Protection from Precipitation: The wide "umbrella" reliably covers the flue outlet, preventing moisture from entering the twin-wall chimney.
- Optimized Design to Preserve Draft: The height of the support legs and the diameter of the cap are calculated to provide reliable protection while having a minimal effect on the free exit of flue gases and without creating excessive resistance.
- Protection from Debris and Birds: The design acts as a barrier that prevents birds from nesting and stops large debris, such as fallen leaves, from entering the channel.
- Full System Compatibility: It is made from the same materials (stainless steel, galvanized steel, or painted steel) as the outer casing of the three-layer chimney, ensuring a perfect visual match.

Application & Alternative Solutions
- Not a Spark Arrestor: A standard rain cap protects from precipitation and large debris, but not from sparks. If spark arresting is required (e.g., for a sauna or near combustible materials), a rain cap with mesh (spark arrestor) must be used.
