Main Types of Air Terminal Devices

Depending on their purpose and required aerodynamic characteristics, these devices are divided into several main types:

• Ventilation Grilles: The most common type, used for supply, extract, and transfer of air. Can be equipped with adjustable or fixed blades to direct the flow.
• Swirl Diffusers: Provide maximum mixing (induction) of supply air with room air. Their design with tangential vanes creates a swirling flow, which quickly equalizes the temperature and velocity of the jet. Ideal for Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems and spaces with high comfort requirements.
• Nozzle Diffusers: Generate a long-throw, focused jet of air. Indispensable in very large and high spaces (production halls, atriums, concert halls) where air needs to be delivered over a significant distance to the occupied zone.
• Slot Diffusers: Create a flat, fan-shaped air jet that adheres to the ceiling (the Coandă effect) and travels a long distance at low velocity, providing draft-free ventilation. Often used in modern office and public interiors.
