Bitumen Tapes
Bitumen Tapes (Aluband, Loodband) are self-adhesive composite materials for instant and durable waterproofing. They are indispensable for quick repairs and sealing the most complex and critical roof joints, where applying liquid mastics is difficult.
The tape's base is a modified bitumen layer with high adhesive properties. It is protected on top by a strong polyester foil (aluminum or lead-grey), which provides mechanical strength and high resistance to UV radiation.
Application and Assortment
Aluband (aluminum color) and Loodband (lead-grey, red) tapes are functionally identical and designed for sealing flashings, joints, and repairs. We offer the most in-demand sizes.

Key Properties and Installation Rules
Den Braven bitumen tapes have a number of unique advantages that ensure reliability and ease of installation:
- Self-Adhesive Base: The tape provides instant adhesion ("cold application") to almost all construction surfaces.
- Weather Resistance: The top foil layer provides high resistance to UV radiation, water, and atmospheric factors (operating range from -40°C to +80°C).
- Mechanical Strength: The foil protects the bitumen layer from tearing stress and impacts.
- Self-Sealing: In case of minor damage (e.g., from a nail), the bitumen layer expands and "seals" the puncture, maintaining watertightness.
- Thermal Stability: The tape does not melt or run at high summer temperatures and maintains adhesion even at sub-zero temperatures (installation from 0°C).
Important Technical Aspects
- Priming Porous Surfaces: To ensure reliable adhesion on porous substrates (concrete, brick, plaster), priming is mandatory with a specialized primer (e.g., Zwaluw B&B Primer).
- Overlap: For complete waterproofing, the minimum overlap between tape strips must be at least 25 mm.
- Limitations: The tapes are not compatible with certain polymers (PE, PP, PC, PTFE) due to low adhesion.
