Rain Collar for Chimney (Storm Collar)
Product Description
The Rain Collar (also known as a storm collar or weather skirt) is a mandatory waterproofing component used in the roof penetration assembly for a twin-wall chimney. It is installed on the pipe directly above the cone of the metal roof flashing. The sole purpose of the rain collar is to prevent rain and meltwater running down the chimney walls from entering the gap between the pipe and the flashing.
Key Features
- The Final Barrier Against Leaks: The rain collar is the key sealing component. Its conical skirt directs all water flowing down the pipe over the top of the roof flashing's cone, preventing it from penetrating the roof structure.
- Reliable Sealing: The collar fits tightly around the insulated chimney pipe and is additionally sealed at its top edge with a special weather-resistant silicone sealant, creating a durable, waterproof bond.
- Full System Compatibility: It is made from the same materials (stainless steel, galvanized steel, or painted steel) and in the same colours as the outer casing of the three-layer chimney, ensuring a perfect visual and technical match.
- Mandatory Component: Without the installation of a rain collar, the chimney roof penetration assembly is not complete or sealed. Its use is mandatory when installing a metal roof flashing.

Application & Installation
- Mandatory Installation: This component must be used in conjunction with a metal roof flashing to create a sealed assembly.
- Installation Rules: The rain collar is slid down over the chimney pipe from above until it rests on the cone of the roof flashing. The top edge of the collar, where it meets the pipe, must be thoroughly sealed with weather-resistant silicone.
