Dust Collection Systems (Aspiration) for Manufacturing

Industrial dust collection system in a workshop

A dust collection system (industrial aspiration) is a set of equipment designed to remove production waste, such as wood shavings and dust, metal chips, plastic granules, and other suspended particles, directly from a machine or workstation. In essence, it is a powerful industrial "vacuum cleaner" that ensures a clean and safe workshop environment.

The main purpose of such systems is to create a safe working environment in compliance with occupational health and safety and environmental regulations by effectively collecting and filtering contaminated air.

A properly designed dust collection system:

  • Improves workplace safety by creating a clean and healthy working environment.
  • Ensures safe operation in environments with combustible dust (e.g., wood dust), in accordance with ATEX requirements.
  • Helps comply with environmental and occupational safety standards.
  • Increases the efficiency and service life of equipment by protecting it from dust.

Primary Areas of Application

Our components and solutions are successfully used in a wide range of industries where the effective removal of dust and other production waste is required:

  • Woodworking and furniture manufacturing plants
  • Building mix production and cement plants
  • Chemical industry
  • Plastics processing and granulation lines
  • Metallurgical and foundry operations

Main Components of Dust Collection Systems

The efficiency and durability of the entire system depend on the quality of each of its elements. We manufacture and supply a full range of components designed to withstand high abrasive loads.

  • Ductwork and Fittings

These are the "arteries" of the system, which must withstand constant abrasion from production waste, especially wood shavings. That is why we manufacture them from heavy-gauge steel (from 0.6 to 2.0 mm), which is a direct investment in durability.

  • Flexible Inserts

They dampen vibrations from equipment and simplify installation. For environments with combustible dust (wood, plastic), we supply antistatic flexible inserts that meet ATEX safety requirements.

  • Cyclones

An effective and reliable method for primary air cleaning. A cyclone uses centrifugal force to separate larger and heavier particles, such as shavings and sawdust, which significantly reduces the load on the main system filters.

Which Connection Type to Choose? Flanges or Clamps

The choice of the right connection type directly affects the installation speed, flexibility, and maintenance cost of the system. We offer two main types, each with its own advantages.

Characteristic Flanged Connection Clamp-Together Connection
Principle A rigid, bolted connection of two rings (flanges) fixed to the ends of the pipes. A quick-connect clamp that tightens over two rolled edges of the ducting.
Installation Speed Standard. Requires precise alignment of bolt holes and tightening multiple bolts. High. Installation is 2-3 times faster thanks to a simple clamping mechanism.
System Flexibility Low. The system is permanent; changes require complex disassembly. High. Easily disassembled, reconfigured, and expanded without waste. Convenient for cleanouts.
Recommendations For permanent, large-diameter main lines and sections with high vibrational loads. For most applications, especially where quick assembly is crucial and future layout changes are possible.

Key Requirements: Safety and Durability

When selecting components for dust collection systems, compromising on quality can lead to serious consequences. Two parameters must always be the priority.

Characteristic Why It Matters Our Solution
Durability (Steel Gauge) The constant movement of abrasive particles — especially wood shavings, sawdust, or metal dust — quickly wears through thin-walled ductwork. This leads to leaks and costly repairs. We use high-quality galvanized steel (DX51D+Z275) or structural carbon steel (S235) in gauges from 0.6 to 2.0 mm.
Safety (ATEX) In environments where combustible dust is generated (wood, plastic), heightened safety requirements apply. Static charge from particle friction must be safely dissipated to eliminate the risk of ignition. All our components are designed for reliable grounding. We supply certified antistatic flexible inserts that safely discharge static electricity.

New Systems and Repair of Existing Ones

New System Construction: As a manufacturer, we supply all the necessary components to build a complete dust collection system from scratch. For perfect integration with your equipment, we produce any custom transitions and adapters to your dimensions, sketches, or drawings.

Repair and Replacement of Worn Parts: Over time, ductwork and fittings in any production facility wear through. We offer an effective solution: we will manufacture any part for replacement—be it a straight section, an elbow, or a transition—exactly to your dimensions. This guarantees a 1:1 fit with your existing line, allowing you to quickly and easily replace the worn-out element and minimize downtime.

Professional Installation: If you want to guarantee a perfect result, SIA "Akvilon" offers professional installation services for dust collection systems. Our specialists ensure the correct assembly, sealing, and commissioning of the system.

CE Mark Akvilon

Directive Compliance and CE Marking

For equipment intended for use in environments with heightened safety requirements (ATEX), the CE marking is not just a quality seal but a mandatory declaration by the manufacturer that the product fully complies with the strict requirements of European directives.
