Welded Stainless Steel Ductwork
Akvilon Ltd. manufactures and supplies complete stainless steel ventilation systems for facilities with special requirements for corrosion resistance, hygiene, and reliability. Our welded ductwork ensures the highest class of airtightness and is designed for operation in the most demanding environments.
All products are custom-made for specific projects, which guarantees precise compliance with specifications and minimizes the need for on-site modifications.
Key Advantages of Our Systems
- Superior Corrosion Resistance: We use certified steel grades AISI 304L and 316L, ideal for aggressive environments.
- Guaranteed Airtightness (Class D): Longitudinal seams are TIG-welded to eliminate leaks, increasing the system's energy efficiency and safety.
- High-Temperature Resistance: Systems are rated for continuous operation at temperatures up to 600°C, making them suitable for smoke extraction and exhaust from hot equipment.
- Hygienic Design: The smooth internal surface prevents the accumulation of dirt and bacteria, which is critical for the food and pharmaceutical industries.
- Custom Solutions: We manufacture custom round and rectangular fittings of any complexity based on customer drawings.
- Durability: The service life of stainless steel systems is many times longer than that of galvanized alternatives, especially in corrosive environments.
Application Areas
Stainless steel ductwork is the mandatory standard in the following facilities:
- Food & Beverage Industry: Resistance to aggressive cleaning agents, compliance with sanitary standards, and suitability for Clean-in-Place (CIP) procedures.
- Pharmaceuticals & Laboratories (GMP): Compliance with cleanroom standards, a smooth, non-porous welded surface, and suitability for sterilization and chemical treatment.
- Chemical Plants: Transportation of corrosive fumes, acids, and solvents. AISI 316L steel is used for such applications.
- Swimming Pools, Water Parks, & Coastal Areas: Maximum protection against pitting corrosion caused by high chloride and moisture content.
- Commercial Kitchens & Restaurants: Exhaust systems for grills, ovens, and stoves. We produce ductwork with a wall thickness of 1.2 mm or more, in accordance with local building codes (e.g., LBN 215-15).
- Healthcare Facilities: Ensuring sterility and high hygiene standards in operating rooms and treatment areas.
Technical Specifications & Manufacturing
Our manufacturing process is CE certified, which guarantees that our products comply with key European standards EN 12237 (for round ducts) and EN 1507 (for rectangular ducts).
Choosing the Steel Grade: AISI 304L vs 316L
The right choice of material is the foundation of a system's longevity. We offer two main types of steel:
- AISI 304L (EN 1.4307): A versatile solution for general ventilation systems, kitchen exhausts, and moderately aggressive environments.
- AISI 316L (EN 1.4404): A steel grade with added molybdenum. It has a significantly higher Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number (PREN) and is mandatory for the chemical industry and systems with chlorine or salt exposure.
Construction and Airtightness
To achieve Airtightness Class D, all our stainless steel ductwork is manufactured with a welded construction. The longitudinal seam is produced by TIG welding in an inert gas environment. After welding, all seams undergo mandatory passivation—a chemical treatment to restore the protective oxide layer and ensure uniform corrosion resistance across the entire surface of the product.
Steel Thickness
The minimum wall thickness of the ductwork depends on its dimensions (the larger side or diameter) and the pressure class of the system. We adhere to the requirements of EN 1507 and VDI 3808 standards.
Longest Side / Diameter (mm) |
Recommended Steel Thickness (mm) |
up to 500 |

501 - 1000 |
0.8 - 0.9 |
1001 - 2000 |

* Longest Side applies to rectangular ducts; Diameter applies to round ducts.
Note: For smoke extraction systems, kitchen exhausts from grills and ovens, and high-pressure systems, the thickness is selected individually and is no less than 1.2 mm.
Manufactured Components (Article)
We produce a full range of components to build a complete ventilation system:
- Straight sections of round and rectangular ductwork;
- Elbows, tees, reducers, offsets, and junctions;
- End caps, dampers, roof caps, and deflectors;
- Fastening elements (clamps, brackets) also made of stainless steel to prevent galvanic corrosion.
Professional System Installation
In addition to manufacturing, Akvilon Ltd. offers installation services for stainless steel ventilation systems. Our specialists ensure high-quality assembly, seam sealing, and adherence to all technical standards to guarantee the longevity and efficiency of your system.
Quality Assurance and Certification
All Akvilon ductwork is manufactured in accordance with EU regulations and is CE marked. This confirms its compliance with European standards for strength, airtightness, and material safety.
