Insulated Chimney Transition
Product Description
The Insulated Transition is a conical component for three-layer chimneys, designed for the sealed and safe connection of two sections of an insulated system with different diameters. It is most often used to increase the diameter of the flue channel in accordance with the heating appliance's requirements or to improve draft. The transition's construction fully matches the structure of the straight pipes, maintaining the integrity of the thermal insulation along the entire length of the chimney. Manufacturing a transition for reduction (a reducer) is possible by special order.
Key Features
- Smooth Cross-Section Change: The conical shape provides a smooth, step-free transition between two diameters. This minimizes turbulence in the flue gas flow and helps to maintain a stable draft.
- Insulation Integrity: The transition is a complete twin-wall component with a 50 mm layer of non-combustible basalt wool. This ensures that the point of diameter change will not become a "cold bridge" and remains as fire-safe as the straight sections.
- Correct 'By Condensate' Installation: The component is installed strictly in the direction of flue gas flow (narrow end down), which ensures that condensate flows down the inner wall of the chimney without the risk of leaking at the joints.
- Custom Manufacturing: Transitions can be manufactured for any combination of standard diameters. We can manufacture a transition both for increasing (the standard and recommended solution) and for decreasing the diameter (for special cases, e.g., for ventilation systems or by special design).

Application & IMPORTANT RESTRICTIONS
- ATTENTION: RULES FOR DIAMETER CHANGE: According to building codes and fire safety regulations, it is forbidden to narrow the flue channel diameter for heating appliances in the direction of flue gas flow. Therefore, in most cases, this component must be used as a diameter increaser. Manufacturing a reducer transition is possible on special order for non-standard projects, with all responsibility for such a decision resting with the project designer.
- Mandatory Securing: Both connections of the transition (to the smaller and larger diameter pipes) must be securely fastened with locking bands.
- Calculation Required: The need to change the chimney diameter must be justified by the heating appliance manufacturer's instructions or by an aerodynamic calculation. If in doubt, consult a specialist.
